So... I am here! Mumbai :) and I am happy as I can be. I moved into a nice little apartment and it is pure bliss! I have a flatmate too... so I need not be scared at nights while watching spooky movies :D
This is not the first time I will staying away from home, but somehow the feelings are different. I feel more responsible and independent. There are no professors or hostel wardens to push me around. I am responsible for what I do... and how I do.
To come to Mumbai has always been my dream... cliché huh? But yes, I always wanted to be here. I came here last December and fell for the city! Traveled in local trains... street shopping in Colaba... eating different food. That time, I stayed in Colaba, south Mumbai. It was a small room, in huge old building. The walls of the building were faded yellow-black from dust and time. I stayed with a Marathi woman. I don't know her full name, but everyone calls her Wali Ji. She was around 50 or something, stays alone. In her room, there was a picture of her dead son. The young man was smiling brightly from the frame. I always wondered what actually happened to him, but never asked her. It will always remain an untold story. Anyways, I stayed there for a month. It was an experience. I learnt about the small things in life. Someday, I might visit her again... Will write about it some other time.
Now, I am here again. Happy. Anxious.Curious about what next! Sometimes..well..most of the times, I miss my old friends. I don't know, whether they miss me or not, but i do. I haven't made any new friends yet, but yes, I like my flatmate. She is good. Talkative, but then again..I am a good listener. So, not bad. Will take time... but then I think, I made my first friend.
